Yellow Bird Studio Update
Studio Inspirations and News
We are offering our first Crafternoon this Saturday from 1-3. This is a drop off program for kids who are in Kindergarten through 5th grade. We will have a variety of crafts for the children to make and take, ranging from painting projects to sewing projects. Minimum 4 students, maximum 12. Please register by Friday through the website or contact us via email or phone.
Our Monday through Thursday 1-3 PM Open Studio now has a drop-off option for ages 3 and up. This is a great opportunity to provide your half day preschooler with some art instruction and enrichment with Ms Pamela and Ms Florie. No preregistration required. Children must be potty trained and able to care for their personal needs. Price: $20 per child, $15 per sibling.
This week's caregiver and me classes are doing the Jungle Jive! We have planned jungle inspired art with painting, sewing, textiles, sculpture, collage and sensory play. Come join us for Hand in Hand Art, Paint and Puddles or Open Studio and make beautiful art together! Check our calendar for dates and times.
For our after school Art Club classes we are learning about the concept of value in painting and drawing and how important it is in creating something interesting and beautiful.

This week we want to highlight the work of one of our Art Club students, Rose I. Rose looooves cats! She noticed that another student was using clay to make sculptures and she asked if she could try to make a cat. She first sketched out what she wanted the cat to look like. Then, with some assistance, Rose worked with wire armature and air dry clay to make a cat. But, the following week, she discovered that the clay was too brittle and the cat fell apart.
Not sure what to do to make a cat, we helped Rose learn how to use wire, foil and paper mache to make a cat. The process took several weeks, but in the end, her cat turned out exactly the way she imagined it. Way to hang in there Rose- your cat is puuurrrfect!
You Can Do It!
As part of our Jungle Jive art exploration, we have created a coffee sensory bin! Here is a link to NaturalBeachLiving.com that takes the coffee sensory play one step further with an easy coffee and dirt playdough recipie.
