We've Got Our Eye On Summer at YBS!
Summer Camp at Yellow Bird Studio is around the corner and we are so excited for our eighth year of making art and making friends! We have added a one-of-a-kind new camp this year during the week of June 10-14 from 1:30-4:30 called Welcome to the Dragonarium, which taps into the fantastical world of dragons! The campers will be creating their own 3-D dragon sculpture, drawing and painting and sewing all things dragon, and creating their own unique dragon lore. A sure hit with kids 3rd through 5th grade! Go to our registration page to grab your spot!
There are a few more spots left in a couple of other camp weeks, so check out our Registration page to see availability.
What a Year It's Been!
We want to thank all the families who attended our afterschool art classes and camps this past year! May 24th will be our last day of classes until we resume the week of August 19th.
We are working on expanding our class offerings in the next school year and possibly offer Saturday classes for those young artists who can't make it during the week but love the studio and being creative.
We will reach out to currently enrolled families in July to allow them to pre-register for classes and then open up registration for the community on August 1st.
We will be publishing our schedule on June 1 so that everyone can preview the classes and contact us with any questions they may have about them.
Art Journaling Workshops by local artist Rebekah Lane
Local abstract artist, color consultant and art therapist Rebekah Lane will be offering a very special day of Art Journaling classes for adults and for teens. From her course description:
Unleash your creativity with the Art Journal Workshop, a comprehensive guide to exploring your artistic talents.
This workshop includes a beautifully designed book filled with inspiring prompts and techniques, perfect for artists, or aspiring creatives of all levels. Bring your own supplies or purchase a kit, you'll have everything you need to create stunning works of art!
The process of art journaling is more important than the results. Learn about yourself, your goals, and even your inhibitions creating within this format, artist or not you can heal and nourish parts of yourself while learning a new skillset. This workshop will help you unlock your artistic potential and express yourself through the vibrant world of art journaling.
So what will we do in this journal class?
For starters, Rebekah will walk you through creating your custom art journal step by step. You’ll leave with so many ideas to keep your creation rolling all summer long! After the book is created, we’ll create one page together.
To register, visit her website https://getinthecolorlane.com/events or if you have questions, you can email Rebekah at rlanestudios@yahoo.com
Women's Art and Soul Collective
We have had a great turn out for our Art and Soul Collective for women on the third Saturday of the month. Below are a couple of beautiful mixed media florals from April. Our next one will be on May 18th from 6:30-8:30. Given it's proximity to Mother's Day, it would be a very special gift for someone special in your life, or even yourself! We will be painting a portrait in a fun, abstract style- no special drawing or artistic skill is required, just the willingness to be open, have fun, relax and try something new! Registration is for the Gunn Highway location and is on our Registration page.
